What it does
With text-to-speech, you can listen to any article. Inoreader reads it with natural voices in more than 30 languages, generated on its own servers. The player sits in the article and shows the duration, and you can drag the position, pause, resume and change the speed. It keeps playing in the background while you read something else, and in the apps it hands over to the system player, so the lock screen shows the article and the controls.
Articles and podcasts share one listening queue. Add an article, then an episode, then three more articles, and the queue plays through them in order.
Narration tracking marks each line in the text as it is spoken. If you look away and come back, the marker is where the voice is. If you read along in a second language, you see each sentence as you hear it. It also helps readers who lose their place in a block of text.
How it works
- Open an article and click Listen with text-to-speech. Inoreader generates the audio and starts it in the player.
- Keep reading while the marker follows the narration, or send the player to the background and do something else.
- Add more articles or podcast episodes to the queue, and they play on in order.
- Change the speed or drag the position in the player. On your phone, you can also use the system player on the lock screen.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I listen to an article?
Open it and click Listen with text-to-speech. The audio version loads in the player on the page, where you see the duration and can drag the position, pause and resume, and change the playback speed.
Does it keep playing in the background?
Yes, on the web and in the iOS and Android apps. On your phone, the system player shows the article, so you can pause, skip and seek from the lock screen.
Can I queue articles with podcasts?
Yes. Articles and podcast episodes share one listening queue, so on your commute you can listen to an episode followed by three articles without touching your phone.
Which languages can it read?
More than 30, with natural voices generated on our own servers. Each article is read in the language it is written in, and a translated article is read in the language of the translation.
What is narration tracking?
It marks the line being spoken in the text as the article is read, and the marker moves with the narration. You can follow along, look away and find your place again, or read along in a language you are learning.
What are the limits?
