Inoreader Intelligence and article summaries are here!

You rely on Inoreader to gather information, but wouldn’t mind a little help processing it more efficiently? Meet Inoreader Intelligence – a new suite of AI-powered features designed to help you absorb content faster and analyze data more effectively.

The first tool in this series, article summaries, lets you instantly generate summaries, run predefined or custom prompts on texts, and even ask specific questions about the articles you’re reading. Whether you need a quick overview, a detailed breakdown, or insights into a particular aspect, Inoreader Intelligence puts you in control of how you engage with content.

A new button in article view

When you open an article inside Inoreader, you’ll find the new Summarize button below its title. Click it once for a quick General summary, or tap the arrow on the right to explore additional prompts in a dropdown menu. You can also enter custom queries and ask specific questions to get the insights you need. In Preferences, you can choose between the default full button (1) under the title or a minimalist version (2) in the top bar to fit your workflow.

What article summaries look like

Article summaries appear directly within the articles, with convenient buttons to view your prompt, copy, or delete them. They’re also indexed by our search engine, so you can easily find summaries when searching for content inside your account.

Customize your preferences

Want to fine-tune how summaries work for you? Go to Preferences > Intelligence, where you can:

  • Customize how the Summarize button appears in articles.
  • Set a persona profile and behavior for executing prompts.
  • Choose your preferred summary language.
  • Adjust the default Summarize action.
  • Reorder and pin prompts for quick access.

Access and limitations

Article summaries are available on the web and in our iOS and Android* apps (version 7.9 and above) for Pro, Custom, and Team users, who receive 1 million tokens per month as part of their plans. You can purchase additional tokens anytime as an add-on if you need more. Track your usage and manage limits in Preferences > Billing and usage >  Usage.

*The Android app update will be released shortly.

You’re in control

Article summaries are designed to save time, not dictate what you see. Your feeds and articles remain untouched, with no AI filtering or interference. You decide when and how to use summaries, keeping full control over your reading experience inside Inoreader.

Inoreader Intelligence is designed to work for you, not the other way around.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why include article summaries in an RSS aggregator?

For some, adding article summaries to an RSS aggregator might seem counterintuitive. But for others, especially researchers and professionals handling large volumes of information, it’s a time-saving tool. Summarization isn’t just about shortening articles – it’s about quickly answering specific questions, saving you valuable time that would otherwise be spent digesting the full content of every article.

What AI model does Inoreader use?

We currently use OpenAI’s GPT-4o-mini, with plans to introduce additional models.

Can I choose a different AI model?

Not yet, but we’re working on adding model selection in future updates.

Does Inoreader train AI models using my data?

No. Inoreader does not train any AI models for article summarization. We use the pre-trained GPT-4o-mini model and simply execute user prompts against it – no training involved.

Does Inoreader send my personal data to OpenAI?

No. The data sent to OpenAI for summarization includes no personal information about you. We only send publicly available article details, such as the title, date, source name, and author. Innologica, the company behind Inoreader, is ISO-27001:2022 certified, ensuring top-tier security standards. As an EU-based company, we are also GDPR-compliant, reinforcing our commitment to user privacy.

What happens if I reach my token limit?

As a Pro, Custom, or Team user, you receive 1 million tokens per month as part of your plan. If you reach your limit, you won’t be able to generate new summaries until your tokens reset at the start of the next billing cycle. However, all previously generated summaries will remain accessible. Need more tokens before your limit resets? You can purchase additional tokens anytime in Preferences > Billing and usage > Usage > Increase limits to continue using article summaries without interruption.
