The third quarter of 2026 brought new ways to find relevant coverage and engage with what you read. We introduced mentions, redesigned search and monitoring feeds, added narration tracking, and improved several everyday workflows.

Here’s what’s new:

Follow what matters with mentions

Mentions are a new Inoreader Intelligence feature that identifies companies, products, places, and public figures in articles. Each mention points to a specific entity, helping you find more relevant coverage than a keyword alone. Select Apple as a mention, for example, and you can focus on the company rather than articles about the fruit.

From an article, you can open a mention to explore recent coverage, related entities, and sources writing about it. You can also use mentions as conditions in rules and filters to organize content and reduce irrelevant matches.

We redesigned article search and the way you create monitoring feeds, too. Both now offer a clearer way to build queries with keywords and, where available, mentions. You can find an article that catches your interest, explore the people or organizations it covers, and create a monitoring feed to follow what happens next.

Follow along as you listen

Listening to an article is convenient, but finding your place in the text can be tricky when you want to read along. Narration tracking helps by marking the current line as text-to-speech reads it aloud.

The marker moves through the article with the narration, making it easier to switch between listening and reading or pick up where you left off. It can also help you stay focused on longer articles and follow content in another language.

Narration tracking is available on the web and in our mobile apps from version 7.10. It’s enabled by default when you start text-to-speech. On the web, you can turn it off from the audio player whenever you prefer to just listen.

More improvements across Inoreader

Along with these larger updates, we made several changes to everyday reading and navigation.

We refreshed newsletter feeds to make it easier to subscribe to newsletters and read them along with your other sources in Inoreader.

The interface for adding Google News feeds also received a design update, with a search experience that feels more familiar to anyone who uses Google News.

We also launched a new Help center and added new video tutorials to help you get started, explore features, and make more of Inoreader.

In dashboards, a new Annotations widget brings your notes into view.

Face-aware thumbnails improve how images appear in Card and Magazine views, while new article loading indicators make it clearer when content is opening.

We also released version 7.10 of our mobile apps, bringing narration tracking to both platforms along with smaller fixes and optimizations. On Android, we resolved several long-standing issues with settings and article navigation. The Android beta also adds foldable device support, with a layout that adapts to the screen and larger text when unfolded. On iOS, new iPhone Duo support lets the app switch between phone and tablet layouts while keeping your place as you fold or unfold the device.
