Can monitoring feeds track content beyond my account?
Yes. Switch Monitor in to All public feeds, and the monitoring feed collects matching articles from the public feeds Inoreader collects, sources you don't follow included. All sites, Popular sites and Most popular sites set how widely it looks.
Choose the public scope
- Go to Add feed > Monitoring feed and build the query.
- Under Monitor in, switch to All public feeds.
- Open the list and pick All sites, Popular sites or Most popular sites.
- Check the Preview, then click Create monitoring feed, name the feed and click Save feed.

The public feeds
All sites covers every public feed that at least three people follow, plus the feeds you follow yourself. Popular sites keeps to feeds with 100 or more followers and Most popular sites, the default, to feeds with 1,000 or more. Your own feeds aren't added to those two. Where several copies of one feed exist, only the most followed one counts. Web feeds, Telegram channels, newsletters and other monitoring feeds stay private to their accounts and are never part of the public feeds. The Featured Collections of the Search page aren't a Monitor in choice.
The same public feeds are what Global search reads, so a one-time search there shows what a monitoring feed would find. What is Global search? explains them.
Receive new articles
Every public article is checked against the query as Inoreader collects it, and a match is added to the feed. Only articles collected after the feed exists arrive this way. At creation the feed starts with the articles the preview found, up to 100. The preview shows the number of matches in the chosen scope and up to 20 of the newest from the past year.
You can also start from the Search page: run a search on All public feeds, then click Create monitoring feed next to the result count, and the feed keeps the scope you searched.
A monitoring feed may not collect more than 100 articles an hour, and a broad term over all public feeds easily does. Pick Popular sites or Most popular sites, or add a group that must also match.
Plans and limits
Watching public feeds needs Pro, which includes 30 monitoring feeds. A Team with a shared pool shares 150 or 200 across the team, and in a Team without one each member has 30. How do I create a monitoring feed? has the whole procedure and Can monitoring feeds track content from my account? covers the My account tab. The feature page Watch any keyword, brand or topic across the web and the blog post Introducing Mentions, redesigned search and smarter monitoring feeds have more.
